# Slack

Post every release to a channel, and approve gated releases from Slack. Open the **Slack** card on the Integrations page to connect.

## Release messages

```bash
bumpkit integrations connect slack --url -
```

Paste a Slack incoming webhook URL (it must start with `https://hooks.slack.com/`). Bumpkit posts to that channel:

- every release recorded by `POST /v1/analyze`, with the version, bump, confidence and changelog;
- release docs you [publish](/docs/release-notes#publish-release-docs) with the `slack` target;
- [release health](/docs/release-health) regressions, with the top suspect commit;
- [weekly digests](/docs/release-notes#weekly-digest) sent to `slack`.

Approving releases from Slack uses the Bumpkit Slack app instead; see [Approvals](/docs/approvals).

The `integrations_connect` and `integrations_test` MCP tools do the same.

## Approvals in Slack

The Bumpkit Slack app posts approval requests with **Approve** and **Deny** buttons, and answers the `/bumpkit` slash command.

```bash
bumpkit integrations authorize slack
bumpkit integrations slack-app channel C0123ABCDEF
bumpkit integrations slack-app posting approval
```

The `integrations_authorize`, `integrations_slack_app_channel` and `integrations_slack_app_posting` MCP tools do the same. See [Approve from Slack](/docs/approvals#approve-from-slack).

When you disconnect the Slack app, Bumpkit posts "Bumpkit was removed from this channel." to the chosen channel, then removes itself from your Slack workspace.
